In Memory of Yvonne Lindblad

May 15, 1928 - November 12, 2020

Yvonne Lorraine (Stanley) Lindblad, 92, of Chetek, passed away Nov. 12, 2020, at Care Partners in Bloomer. Yvonne was born May 15, 1928, in the Rice Lake hospital. She was the first child born to Merrill and Hattie (Flor) Stanley. Yvonne graduated from Chetek High School in 1945.

Yvonne married Harold Lindblad in August of 1946. They made their home in Chetek until Harold was transferred to Amery with his job with NSP in 1960. Yvonne eventually went to work at B & B Clothing, enjoying her job of over 20 years. She traveled monthly to Minneapolis, Minn., as a clothing buyer for the store. Yvonne loved golfing, dancing, playing cards, and socializing with friends. When she and Harold retired in 1985, they moved back to Chetek, living in their little cabin on Pokegama Lake. They enjoyed many good retirement years. Yvonne loved her bridge club every week, playing into her 80s until her eyesight failed her. Harold and Yvonne also traveled to Florida for many years, spending a month or so out of the Wisconsin winters.

Yvonne had a good life, blessed with five childdren, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and lots of friends. She had many great life experiences, and loved to share her stories of life as a little girl in Chetek. It was fun to hear all her memories, and also drive her around Chetek so she could point out how the town used to be, who lived where, and talk about the downtown stores.

Yvonne is survived by her children, P. Lee Thompson, of Key West, Fla.; Mike, of Barron; Audrey (Jerry) Addie, of Somerset; Richard (Barb), of Scandia, Minn.; and Glen, of Luck; many grandchildren and great-grandchilddren; sister, Anna Mae (James) Axness, of Portage; sister-in-law, Patricia Stanley; and brother-in-law, Robert Stoik.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in 2005; parents; brothers, Max Stanley and Carlyle Stanley; and sister, Arlene Stoik.

A private family graveside service will be held. After cremation, Yvonne will be buried with her husband, next to her parents and sister.

A special thank you to Care Partners in Bloomer, and to Lakeview Medical Center Hospice staff.

Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Chetek is assisting the family.
