In Memory of William D. Sears
“William ‘Bill’ Sears of Webster, WI, was peacefully greeted by the Lord on December 25, 2024 after an admirable battle with ongoing health complications.
Bill was born on May 29, 1945 to Harold ‘John’ and Ruth ‘Brownie’ Sears. He was raised in Webster with his five siblings, Ruthann, Diane, Connie, Johnny, and Randy Sears. Although Bill was raised in Webster, he was able to experience living in Montana with his Grandparents during some of his school years. Once Bill moved back to Webster, he met his soulmate, Linda, and built a life that he was truly proud of. The two of them married in 1964 and had three daughters, Kim, Traci, and Lori. His wife and children were the light of his life, and he was the light of theirs.
Throughout his adult years, Bill quickly mastered many skills through trade work. He had experience as a Machinist, Truck Driver for Hopkins Sand and Gravel, a Cement Laborer, Residential Carpenter, a Bar Owner to Mr. Bill’s, and most recently, owned a tool sharpening business, Webster Sharpening. Out of all of the hats that he wore, he was most proud of his position as a Bridge Builder Superintendent through the Union.
After learning all of his successes, one of his grandchildren asked him, “Grandpa, is there anything you can’t do?”
When Bill wasn’t working, he spent his time outdoors; golfing at Fox Run with ‘the guys’, playing softball, hunting, gardening, and camping with family. If he had to be inside, you would find him watching NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers, or old Westerns on repeat. In his later years, he developed a love for vacationing in Mexico with Linda. Beyond everything, he was most passionate about the competitive sport of truck pulling. Many weekends were spent traveling by RV to different truck pulls with his daughter Kim and her family. With his son-in-law Rob as the engine builder, and grandson Mark as the driver, they earned several titles with his trucks “The Junkyard Dog” and “Moonlight Special”.
He had many talents, but above all, he was a good man.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Mark, daughter Traci, parents John and Brownie, and siblings Diane and Johnny.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Linda (Lunsman), daughters Kim (Rob) Johnson, Lori (Bryan) McCann, siblings Ruthann Johnson, Connie Bushey, and Randy Sears, grandchildren Greg Johnson, Stefani (Jeremy) Erickson, Rachel O’Brien, Jodi (Nick) Ward, Jake Sandgren, Bobbi Jo (Brandon) Wipperling, Jessica (Derek) Jaskolka, and Jason Sandgren; along with many great grandchildren, and countless friends.
