In Memory of William Cooper


February 9, 1936 - September 19, 2019

William “Bill” George Cooper Age 83, of Barron, WI died Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Our House Memory Care in Rice Lake, WI.

He was born on February 9, 1936 in Roodhouse, Illinois to James and Beatrice (Stopher) Cooper. Bill graduated from the Roodhouse High School in 1954, entered the United States Navy in 1956 and served in the Vietnam Era and was Honorably Discharged as a AMHC (Aviation Structural Mechanic Chief Petty Officer) in 1976. He worked at ABC in Chetek as fork lift operator and also worked for the State of Illinois and retired in 2002. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching sporting events.

He is survived by his 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy and Kurt Schieffer of Rice Lake & Tina and James Quelle of Barron, WI; 5 grandchildren, Nathan (Jess), Lindsay (Nick), Eric (Jenna), Chase and Jordan (Alex); a great granddaughter, Adaline; a brother, Russell Cooper of Springfield, Illinois; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Cooper; a brother and a sister.

Graveside Services will be held at 11AM Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI, Lisa Mikula officiating, with Military Rites accorded him by the Rice Lake Veteran Honor Guard.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
