Wesley Johnson Jr., age 83, of Minong, WI, formerly of Rockford, IL passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at his home.

Wesley was born on July 5, 1941, in Rockford, IL, to parents Wesley Sr. and Pearl (Medaris) Johnson. Wesley was a tool and die maker for 37 years, retiring from Atwood Automotive at 56 years old. He married the love of his life, Josephine Brodeski on August 25, 1962.

Wesley greatly enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He built and flew model airplanes and enjoyed building street rods. After retirement he fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a Wisconsin resident on Lake Nancy, in the cabin he built becoming his permanent home.

Wesley is survived by his wife, Josie; sons, Jeff (Martha) Johnson, Craig (Julie) Johnson, and Tom (Chris) Johnson; grandchildren, Sarah Johnson, Ethan (Maddi) Johnson, and Eli Johnson; great granddaughter, Taytm Johnson; and sister Pat (Jim) Lundberg.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Zachary Johnson.

A funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Minong, WI, Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 11:00 am with a visitation one hour prior.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at noon, at Jarrett Prairie Center located at 7993 N River Rd. Byron, IL 61010.
