In Memory of Wendell D. McKeag

August 23, 1962 - December 30, 2024

Wendell D. McKeag, passed away on December 30, 2024 at the age of 62 at his home in Grantsburg.

Wendell was born on August 23, 1962 in St. Croix Falls to Richard and Delight (Wedin) McKeag. He was the youngest of three siblings.

Wendell went to school in Grantsburg graduating in 1981. After high school he attended technical school in Eau Claire for truck driving. Wendell was an over the road driver for nearly 30 years, driving for various companies. In 2010, he bought his own truck becoming an Owner Operator. At that time he was leased to Mid Minnesota. He worked for them over 10 years. Just recently he sold the truck to 4 Cubs farm where he worked hauling their milk. He was happy that he could still drive “his truck” almost daily.

Wendell married Laura (Jacobson) McKeag on September 15, 1984. One son Andrew was born to this union. They recently celebrated 40 years of marriage.

Wendell was a farm boy at heart. He raised beef cattle for many years. He loved helping any friend or neighbor especially if it involved cutting, raking & baling hay. He also enjoyed hauling cattle for just about anyone who needed it done. He was the kind of guy who did not let moss grow under his feet, in other words a workaholic. Although he loved driving, his time spent with his family was very important to him.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Delight McKeag; father in law Gerald Jacobson and sister in law Amy Jacobson.

He is survived by his wife Laura, son Andrew (Cassidy Kaempf) McKeag, brother Bryan (Linda) McKeag, sister Denise (Ken) Trone; along with nephews Matthew, Benjamin and David McKeag, Jason (Jessica) Trone; nieces Jessica (Joe) Kueppers; great nephews Colton and Cade Kueppers; mother-in-law Nancy Jacobson; along with numerous friends and relatives.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Zion Lutheran Church (Trade Lake).
