In Memory of Wayne R. Wald

Wayne R. Wald, age 78, of Gordon, WI passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at his home.
Wayne Robert Wald was born July 18, 1939 in Spooner, WI the son of Robert and Blossom (Stack) Wald. He was raised in Waukegan, WI and graduated from school there. Wayne joined the U.S. Army and served during Vietnam. Wayne was honorably discharged and returned to Waukegan where he began work for OMC Johnson Outboard. He spent 30 years with OMC Johnson and retired from them. On May 23, 1987 Wayne was joined in marriage to Louanne “Rocky” Serpe in Cable, WI. Together Wayne and Louanne moved to Gordon, WI where Wayne had purchased a cabin a few years before. Wayne started working as a custodian for Telemark in Cable and spent over 20 years there. He was a 34 year member of the National Rifle Association.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Louanne; two children, Robert (Kim) Wald of Antioch, IL, Rachel (Gary) Modica, of Antioch, IL; step children, Randy (Gwen) Nehls Sr. of Rhinelander, WI, Ronald (Cindy) Nehls of Henderson, TN, Raymond Nehls of Pleasant Prairie, WI; three grandchildren, Taylor, Anthony, Marissa; and one sister, Janet (Johnny) Duvall of Oxford, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Cheryl Pontillo.
A funeral service will be held for Wayne at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8th, at the Solon Springs Funeral Home with Chaplain Jim Stroede officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Military honors will be accorded by the Lockman-Jensen American Legion Post #499 of Gordon, WI. Interment will be in the Gordon Memorial Cemetery.
