In Memory of Wayne Bottke
Wayne Robert Bottke Age 81, of Rice Lake, WI died Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
He was born on October 25, 1937 in Morristown, MN to Edward and Elsie (Schmidtke) Bottke. Wayne graduated from the Faribault High School in 1956 and then entered the National Guard Reserves for 7 years. Wayne was married to Shirley Billings on September 24, 1960 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He owned and operated Sioux Feather Company in Rice Lake for many years where he made archery feathers, fashion feathers and made head dresses for the Native Americans. Wayne also worked for the City of Rice Lake Cemetery Department. He enjoyed running in his younger years, trap shooting, duck hunting in North Dakota, waterskiing, fishing in Canada, snowmobiling, deer hunting, crane hunting and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bottke of Rice Lake; a son, Todd Bottke of Rice Lake; a daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Greg Moore of Centuria, WI; 2 grandchildren, Sharla Moore and David Bottke; a brother, Marvin (Carol) Bottke; a sister-in-law, Jean Bottke; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Elsie Bottke; 2 brothers, Raymond and Kermit; and 2 sisters, Nancy and Gladys.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Monday, June 10, 2019 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Grant Aaseng officiating, with interment in Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Sunday at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the Funeral Service at the Church on Monday.
