In Memory of Wallace Anderson
On Saturday, December 7th, 2019, Wallace Robert Anderson, loving husband of 66 years and father of five children, passed away at the age of 87.
He was born on March 6th, 1932, to Morris and Eunice Anderson in Falun, WI. Wally was the second born son of four brothers. He grew up on a small farm in Falun. Wally, at 4 1/2 years old, went to kindergarten (walking 5 miles one way) and graduated at 16 1/2 years old. During his high school years, he and his brothers were avid hockey players and he carried his love of the sport well into his 70's playing on the Old Timers League (the average age player was 36 years old).
Wally met LaVonne Brown on a roller skating rink where it was love at first sight. The two married August 4th, 1953. Shortly after, Wally was deployed to Korea. Daily beautiful love letters were exchanged. Wally came home in January, 1955.
The couple lived in Superior, WI where Wally attended school at U.W. Superior for his degree in teaching. While going to college, Wally worked multiple jobs. He and LaVonne purchased their first home in 1962. He graduated and was a Science Teacher and later Guidance Counselor in Superior, WI. He started the hockey team at Superior East which was his passion. He also received his Masters there going to school at night.
During these years, they had four daughters and a son. The family of seven, with dog, Duke, moved to Frederic, WI, in 1970 where Wally continued his teaching career at Frederic Junior High.
He loved his times with his fishing buddies, hunting with his brothers, nephews, and grandsons. He had a passion for the outdoors.
He was a loving, funny, caring father, husband, and grandfather to all. To those who were fortunate enough to know him, he was a faithful friend and forever a man of integrity.
We do not say bye, "See you later Dad".
