In Memory of Waagosh Potter

June 2, 1989 - October 12, 2024

"We think of him so often, the things he did and said. He never really left us, he just went on ahead."

We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved father, son, brother and friend, Joseph “Waagosh” (Red Fox) Victor Potter, age 35 of Cumberland passed away at his home on October 12, 2024. He was born June 2, 1989 in Cumberland, WI to Joseph and Loretta (Littlepipe) Potter.

There is no doubt that Joe was a friend to everyone. He was always making people laugh with his jokes, and sharing his contagious smile with others. He liked to play volleyball with friends and family, listen to music, and watch movies - especially a good Jim Carey movie. Gaming was another passion of his, as was cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. Joe had a great love for his sons and his nieces and nephews. We are very thankful for the laughs he shared with us all, but we will miss him terribly.

Joe is survived by his father, Joseph Potter; brothers, Peter Cupp and Nathan Viellieux; sisters, Cheyenne (Mary Decorah) Potter and Sara Craig; sons, Jadan Potter and Jorian Potter; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by mother, Loretta Potter; grandpa, Harry Littlepipe; his sons’ mother, Alicia Paukstat; great aunt, Mary Washington; and other extended family.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 16, 2024 at The Maple Plain Community Center with Vince Merrill and Bruce Sonnenberg officiating. Pallbearers are Asa Merrill, Andrew Hart, Justin Lemieux, Cody Miller, Michael Homesky, Caleb Washington, Kelly Lowe, Fred Shananaquet, Thomas Fowler, Lamont Belisle, and Trevor Treacy Lugo.

Honorary Pallbearers are Bruce Rainey, Bruce Sonnenberg, Xavier Potter, Chris Sonnenberg, Rodney Mallory, Louis Taylor, Thane Lowe, and Steven Mallory.

Visitation will begin after 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the Maple Plain Community Center.

Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland is serving the family.

"A precious one from us is gone, his voice we loved is still. A place is vacant in our midst, which never can be filled."
