January 12, 1923 - January 18, 2017

Service will be Friday, May 19 at the United Methodist Church in Shell Lake.  Visitation at 11 a.m. Service at Noon.  Burial following at Shell Lake Cemetery and then back to church for lunch

Violet Gladys Strand passed away on January 18, 2017, in Spooner WI.  Violet was born January 12, 1923.  Violet graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1941 and in 1945 she married Durward Strand.  Together they farmed in the Town of Bashaw for many years.  Violet was employed by the Shell Lake State Bank for 45 years before retiring in 1988. 

Violet was a member of the United Methodist Church of Shell Lake.  While a member, Violet participated in the Ladies Guild and acted as the church treasurer for many years.  Violet was President of the American Legion Auxiliary of Shell Lake and a member of Friends of the Library.  Some of her biggest joys were children, spending time with her friends and family and being kind to others.  

Violet is preceded in death by her husband Durward, her parents and five brothers.  She is survived in death by her son, Bruce (Kathy) Strand of Shell Lake; 3 Granddaughters, Kelly (Edward) Swan, Marcy (Todd) Keup and Lisa (Terry) Knoll;  3 Step-Grandchildren, Jesse Tripp, Sarah (Todd) Weltzien and Chad Waite; 5 Great Grandchildren/Step-Grandchildren (Jessica, Brian, Emily, Julia, Michael, Derek, Dylan, Tyler and Bailey) and many nieces, nephews and friends.
