In Memory of Victor C. Gobrecht


March 31, 1942 - September 18, 2023

Victor C. Gobrecht passed away on September 18th, with his family by his side.

He was born in Riga Latvia March 31st, 1942, from there he started making his way to the United States by traveling through Oswiecim Poland, with stops in Germany and finally making his way to New York and then to Platteville WI where around the age of 10 he was adopted by the Gobrecht Family.

Vic was the son of Lily Apsitis and after moving to the United States, he was adopted by Carl and Elva Gobrecht and he lived with his adoptive siblings, Carol, Dick & Butch.

While living in Platteville, he met Helen Spease, and they married in 1961 and started a family (but later divorced). He had held a few different jobs in Platteville, then moved to Hanover IL in 1967 to start farming. In 1974, Vic and his family moved to Trego WI to continue farming and eventually started his own transportation business until the time of retirement. In retirement, Vic met Fran (his lady friend) who was there with him until his passing.

He is survived by his sons, Brian Gobrecht (Lisa), Duane Gobrecht (Alexis), Dean Gobrecht (Jodi) along with 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A few of Vic’s interests included staying current on farming, road tripping (can't shake the trucker in him) fishing, hunting and supporting the Packers (as well as Riverstreet Restaurant).

A visitation service will be at the Spooner Funeral Home September 23rd from 1:00-3:00 and a Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the American Legion in Spooner on Hwy 70. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
