Verna Jane Doyen Age 86, of Birchwood, WI, died Monday, May 1, 2023 in Eau Claire, WI.

She was born on October 25, 1936 in Ogema, WI to Victor and Hulda (Anderson) Rumberg.

Verna graduated from Prentice High School in 1955 and was married to Richard Doyen on July 16, 1955 at the Catholic Church in Catawba, WI. They dairy farmed in Cedar Lake Township for a few years. Verna worked in the clinic in Rice Lake cleaning, in the laundry department at Hagen’s Motel and Best Western, cleaned for resorts in Long Lake and took care of her grandchildren. She loved her morning coffee, enjoyed crocheting, made afghans and doilies, reading, looking at magazines, playing cards and being with her family.

She is survived by 3 children, Brad (Debbie) Doyen, Vicky (Brian) Wolf and Vivian (Bill) Broten; 9 grandchildren, Ross, Taylor (Kim), Sam, Bobbie Jo (Steve), Vanessa, Nate (Brittany), Nick (Chrissy), Nelly and Norman; 7 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Doyen; a sister, Violet; 2 brothers, Rudy and Ray.

Funeral Services will be held at 6:45PM Monday, May 15, 2023 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, Rev. Chris Motes officiating, with interment in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.

Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Monday, May 15 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals.
