In Memory of Vera Burhite
Vera Beth Burhite of Birchwood, WI passed away on May 8, 2022 at Dove Healthcare in Rice Lake, WI at the age of 95.
She was born on October 27, 1927 in Exeland, WI to Ernest and Elsie (Busse) Zesiger.
Vera married Bob Weatherhead on December 18, 1950 and out of that union two children were born, Cookie (Ruth) and Pete. While on the farm she was the primary cook for her family in addition to her brothers who were still at home. For several years she was a 4-H Leader and also played the piano for church services at Meteor Hills Bible Church. On May 31, 1969 she later married Frank Burhite, the love of her life. Vera was employed by the mill in Birchwood for many years before retiring. Her hobbies were making afghans, doing Swedish Weaving on Monk’s cloth which she gave to her family and friends. In her later years she attended card making classes and made all her own Christmas cars as well as all occasion cards. She was always quick to send cards for any occasion. Vera particularly enjoyed the camping trips with family and friends, particularly to Washburn and Bayfield area.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Burhite; her daughter, Cookie/Ruth (Harry) Moberg of Andover, MN; her son, Pete Weatherhead of Exeland; as well as grandchild, Lori (Toffee) Tshosa; great grandsons, Talen and Hudson Tshosa; surviving siblings are Aaron (Glenda) Zesiger of Exeland, Royce (Audrey) Zesiger of Rice Lake, WI; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Elsie Zesiger; brothers, Henry, Malcom and Ralph Zesiger; sister, Melody Odee.
A special thank you to family and friends who cared for her in her home, visited, brought meals and spent long days at the hospital and nursing home. Many thanks to the medical staff at Lakeview Medical Center and Dove Healthcare for the personal attention Vera received.
A celebration of life will be held at 11AM Friday, May 20, 2022 at Maranatha Evangelical Free Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Cody Kargus officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Funeral Service at the Church.
Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is handling the services for the family. Burial will be private at a later date.
