In Memory of Troy Edward Swonger


June 5, 1970 - December 16, 2018

Troy Swonger, age 48, a resident of Hortonville, and formerly of Spooner, died on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at his home.

Troy was born on June 5, 1970, in Shell Lake, Wisconsin to parents Ed and Kay (Kopping) Swonger.  He attended school in Spooner and graduated the Class of 1988.  He continued his education by attending UW Eau Claire for a year before transferring to UW Stout in Menomonie where he would graduate in 1995 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Technology/Package Engineering.  After graduation, he moved to Cumberland where he worked at Ardisam for several years.  While working at Ardisam, he met Theresa whom he would marry on September 30, 2006 in Medina, Wisconsin.  The couple made their home in Hortonville where they were blessed with two daughters.  Troy worked as a welder for a time and then was very proud of getting his CDL license and drove over the road for a time before taking a job that kept him home every night.  In Troy’s younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Troy is survived by his wife Theresa “Teri” Swonger of Hortonville, WI, daughters Serenity and Zoe, parents Ed and Kay Swonger of Spooner, WI, sister Sheri Swonger of Trego, WI, nieces Cody and Bailey Andrea and nephew Cole Andrea, and many other extended family and friends.

Troy is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, uncle Brad Kopping, aunt Virginia Correll and cousins Kari Hanson and Heather Swonger.

A celebration of Troy’s life will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 3pm, at the Spooner Funeral Home with Pastor Brent Berkesch officiating.  A time of gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, at the funeral home from 1-3pm.
