In Memory of Thomas E. Rondeau


March 31, 1929 - July 30, 2023

Thomas Eugene Rondeau, age 94, of Cable, WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Aspen Acres Assisted Living in Hayward, WI.

He was born on March 31, 1929, the son of Thomas and Rose (Sistok) Rondeau.

He was united in marriage on April 2, 1955 to Esther E. Pedersen in Cable.

Tom proudly served his country with the Wisconsin Army National Guard retiring after twenty years as a Captain. He started his working career spending summers on Lakers in Lake Superior. He enjoyed the experience and often took his kids to the shore to watch the ships come and go. Tom and Esther ran Rondeau’s Shopping Center in Cable for many years. Tom loved his hometown of Cable and had a passion for community service. He served with the Lions Club, the Bayfield County Board, and the Board of Midwest Hardware Association. Tom loved baseball and played on the city league team for several years. He also coached little league baseball. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting both deer and turkey and enjoyed his trips out to South Dakota to hunt pheasants. Most of all, Tom was a dedicated family man and had a passion for taking care of his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Carol (Randy) Fredrikson of Sebring, FL, James (Cheryl) Rondeau and Brett (Bonnie) Rondeau both of Cable, WI; son-in-law, Al Lang of Drummond WI; nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Esther Rondeau; his daughter, Kathy Lang; his brother, James Rondeau; and his sister, Ruth Hoganson.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the Cable UCC Church, 13445 County Highway M in Cable, where visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of the service.
