In Memory of Thomas DeWitt


March 6, 1943 - February 7, 2019

Tom E. DeWitt, age 75, passed away on February 7, 2019 at Maple Ridge Care Center in Spooner, WI.  Tom was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and his family moved to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin when he was at an early age.  Tom received a civil engineering degree with honors from Marquette University-Milwaukee and a master of science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  He served as a commissioned officer during the Vietnam era.

Tom held several positions with the Department of Natural Resources, ranging from environmental engineer to deputy director of the Northwest District.

Tom was active in community activities and was a charter member of the Spooner-Trego Lions Club and received several awards.  Tom enjoyed many hobbies and interests, ranging from stamp collecting to developing and implementing forest management plans for his 160-acre woodlands. 

Most of all, he cherished his beloved family.  He is survived by his spouse, Mary; sons Patrick (Brenda)and Andrew (Carla); and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 11:00 am at The Spooner Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Gormong officiating.  Visitation will be one prior to the service at the funeral home. 

Interment with full military honors will be at The Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in the Spring 2019.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to donate may do so to their charity of choice.
