Tamara R. Johnson, age 59, of Grantsburg, WI passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on June 15th, 2023.

Tammy was born in Bloomington, MN to Don and Maggie (Johnson) Mills. She met her lifelong soulmate, Paul, at the age of 16, against her mother’s better judgement. They were married in 1982 when she was 18. They spent the next 40 years together, building a life most would cherish.

Tammy and Paul spent their lives in North Branch, MN and Grantsburg, WI. Anyone that knew Tammy knew that you wouldn’t get away with calling her by her name; it was “MA.” To say her grandchildren were her everything is an understatement. A few words to best describe Tammy are stubborn, spicy, a spitfire, bold, outgoing, unique, empowering, strong, genuine, empathic, selfless, amazing, and loving. She was the glue. She was our rock.

Tammy is preceded in death by her mother Maggie Leverty; stepfather Joe Leverty; brothers, Terry and Tommy Mills; nephew Sean Swanson; parents-in-law, Joseph and Lila Johnson; brother-in-law William Johnson; sister-in-law Cheryl Johnston; and beloved pet dog Tina.

She is survived by loving husband Paul Johnson; father Donald Mills; children, Jason, Jennifer (Shawn McKinley), and Jeremy (Sami); grandchildren, Jordan, Natalie, Landon, Lydia, Logan, Kelly-Jo, Nicolas, Stacie, Coltin, and Carter; brother Tim Mills; stepmother-in-law Kathleen "Tully" Johnson; in-laws, Janet (John) Evers, Barb (Dave) Anderson, Marty Johnson, JoAnn Severin, and Aletha (Wade) Salminen; many nieces, nephews, and everyone else that she called her “kids.”

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Private burial at Forest Hill Cemetery in Knapp, WI.
