In Memory of Tammy J. Roos
Tammy Roos passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on May 26th, 2025 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. She was diagnosed in February 2025 and faced it with the same strength and grace she brought to her everyday life.
Tammy (Heintz) Roos came into this world on June 21, 1969, the daughter of Theresa Heintz. Her birth completed the family of four. She lived most of her young life in the Almena area. She attended school in Turtle Lake, Almena and Cumberland where she graduated in 1987. While in Cumberland, she met her forever friends—“Eight Together, Together Forever”—a bond that truly lasted a lifetime.
At 18 years old, while with some mutual friends, she “bumped into” the love of her life, Rich Roos of Amery. They were married October 22, 1988. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and purpose, creating a beautiful family with their three children. Tammy adored her family — being a mom and grandma was the center of her world. She was deeply proud of the way she and Rich raised their kids: with love, hard work, and strong values. She often said that seeing them grow into the people they are — and now raising her grandchildren with the same love — was one of her greatest accomplishments.
Tammy was a stay at home mom for 7 years before going back into the workforce. She worked 5 years at Strauss Knitting Mills in St Croix Falls. She then worked 22 years at Cardinal Glass in Amery, making specialty glass products.
Tammy was an open book—she could talk to anyone without judgement. It didn’t matter if she knew you for 20 seconds or 20 years, she would talk to you about anything. She was someone you could always count on.
Tammy had a very special relationship with her father-in-law, Richard. Simply put, he was Dad to her. Coffee, conversation and plenty of laughter were always on the menu.
When not working outside the home or on the farm, Tammy and Rich could be found in their happy place, their cabin in Winter, Wisconsin that they purchased in 2015, or cruising the Tuscobia Trail with friends. Tammy enjoyed a great ride on an ATV and you can bet she drove her own. When her kids were in high school and college, Tammy enjoyed going to their events. Most recently, her joy has been watching her grandchildren, the “six pack of boys” grow and thrive. She was incredibly proud of them and loved being their grandma more than anything.
Tammy was preceded in death by her mom, Theresa Dole and step-dad, Jerry Fredrickson; maternal grandparents, Pete and Frances Heintz; father-in-law, Richard Roos; grandparents-in-law, Robert “Jack” and Margaret Brande and Robert Roos; as well as brother-in-law, Chris Slaughter Jr.
Tammy is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Rich Roos and their three incredible children, Josh (Cassie) Roos of Amery, WI, Jessica (Brandon) Schaffer of New Richmond, WI, and Jarica (Jacob) Heiser of Plain, WI; her “six pack of boys”: Levi and Everett Roos, Colton and Connor Schaffer, and Heinrich and Felix Heiser.
She is also survived by her siblings Kayleen (Dave) Rosman of Fairchild, WI and Randy (Angela) Heintz of Dacula, GA, as well as Rich’s sisters Yvonne (Drew) Anderson of New Richmond, WI and Rebecca (Scott) Fraser of South Lyon, MI; mother-in-law Sharon Roos of New Richmond, WI; nieces and nephews; the Cumberland Girls; special friends, Pam and Joe Ince; and many friends who have become like family over the years.
A visitation will be held at Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, Wisconsin on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Amery, Wisconsin on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 11:00 am, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. The luncheon will be provided by NUIC, Neighbors United in Christ, Tammy’s home church for over 30 years. Burial will be at the Deronda Cemetery following the funeral.
The family wishes to thank her team at Minnesota Oncology, Westfield Clinic in New Richmond, and St. Croix Hospice for all of their compassionate care, as well as Williamson-White for their help with final arrangements. Pastor Teig of NUIC was especially helpful and supportive to the family.
