Sylvia J. LaRonge, age 73, of Hayward, WI died Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital.

Sylvia Joyce Schmock was born March 2, 1946 in Hayward, WI the daughter of Raymond and Elizabeth (Butler) Schmock. She attended Boylan School in Hayward until 5th grade, then moved to Minneapolis, MN where she completed high school. Sylvia met Thorne Francis LaRonge in Minneapolis and on August 31, 1963 they were united in marriage in Shell Lake, WI. They resided in Minneapolis for 25 years where Sylvia worked as a cook for the Minneapolis School system. They moved back to the Hayward area in 1985, where she continued to work as a cook for LCO Casino, The Club Café, and the Reserve Elder Center.

She is survived by her husband Thorne Francis LaRonge; son Daniel Mark LaRonge of Seattle, WA; daughter Therese “Terri” LaRonge of Hayward; granddaughter Teshena & Alayna LaRonge; eight great grandchildren; brother Arthur Schmock of Hayward; sisters Wanda Toews of Rice Lake and, Millie Merk, Verna LaRonge & Norma Ross, all of Hayward; many nephews & nieces.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents Raymond & Elizabeth; brothers Roger & Eldon; sister Yvonne; brothers-in-law George “Butch” Ross and Richard Merk; nephews Gordon Gregory and Arthur Schmock.

A Memorial Gathering will being at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2019 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward. A luncheon will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home.

Honorary bearers will be Michael Gregory, Michael LaRonge, David Ross, Dennis Schmock, Donald Schmock, Raymond Schmock, Robert Schmock and Shane Schmock.
