In Memory of Suzanne “Suzie” L. (Brownfield) Adams

June 15, 1934 - March 14, 2025

Suzanne “Suzie” Lois (Brownfield) Adams passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025 at Golden Age Manor in Amery, WI.

Suzie was born June 15, 1934 in Urbana, Illinois to Dwight and Suzie Adalaide (Lemmon) Brownfield. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dewey Brownfield and Rev Richard Brownfield and her sister, Louise Brownfield Taylor.

Suzie met Marion Adams on a blind date in Chicago while she was working as a processing clerk for an insurance company and Marion was exiting the US Army. It was indeed an unusual relationship; the daughter of a pipefitter from Illinois and the son of a cotton sharecropper from Mississippi. They married in 1955 and spawned three sons: David, Timothy and Stephen. Suzie was the consummate minister’s wife, spending endless hours devoted to serving God, the church, its members and attendees. She taught Sunday School for many years. She and Marion made their ministerial stops in Chicago, IL, Naperville, IL, Sturgeon Bay, WI, Amery, WI and Appleton, WI. After Marion retired, they traveled and provided ministry support throughout Wisconsin on an intern basis.

Suzie loved to sing and play the piano, especially at church and in the choir. For her listening pleasure, one of her favorites was Handel’s Messiah. She enjoyed spending time with her two adopted cats: Otis and Dawg. She enjoyed watching Green Bay Packer football as a hearty vocal fanatic.

She enjoyed bird watching, especially cardinals, her favorite bird. Pink and green were her favorite colors as evidenced by the plethora of pink and green sweaters in her wardrobe.

Suzie loved to have coffee with friends. She was known for being witty and sassy with an infectious smile. Many refer to her as a sweety and sweetheart. If you met her, you liked her. She was a champion window shopper and browser. She loved to walk around South Twin Lake in Amery. Cooking was not Suzie’s forte. Rumor has it, the first meal she made for her mother-in-law consisted of Jello and pancakes. Ultimately, she did make a mean meatloaf and excellent chocolate mayonnaise cake.

Suzie is survived by sons, David (Julie) Adams, Timothy (Sharon Linkenheld) Adams and Stephen (Pat) Adams. In addition, she is survived by five grandchildren: Christopher, Kyle, Eleanore, Nathan and Cole Adams. Also two great-grandchildren: Lydia and Finn Adams.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, WI.
