In Memory of Susan Matrious
Susan May Matrious, age 57, a resident of Danbury passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.
Susan was born on February 21, 1963 in Grantsburg to parents, Clyde and Nancy Matrious.
Susan was known to be a jack of all trades and master at whatever she could be. She was never one to say no, always helping anyone in need with any task put in front of her. She worked as a Fish & Wildlife Tech and assisted with restocking wild rice. She was a dog catcher, worked security at the Tribal Center, Pow Wows and the Aqua Center for 3 years. She served on the election board, worked at the Casino, did construction, housekeeping and drove limo.
She was a woman with a kind heart, was fun to be around unless you made her mad but had a positive attitude on life and had high hopes for the young people. She would say she was no saint but always tried to help others do good. She would give you the shirt off her back. Most of all she loved being a mom and she was good at it. She also was a stern “Mother Hen” to her nieces and nephews. If ever you did wrong, Susan was sure to tell you so.
Susan enjoyed hunting, fishing, riceing, and anything outdoor and tried to teach all of these things to the kids.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joe and Clyde (Buc’skin); sisters, Mary Jane, Dorothy and Nancy; nephew, Mathew.
She leaves behind her son, Jameson (Lydia); sisters, Rose Holter and Darlene Matrious; brother, Francis; nephews; Kurt, Karl, Joseph, Richard and Jayden Matrious, Thomas and Aaron Skinaway, Dimitri Audie; nieces; Sheila Tucker, Wanda, Dorothy, Claudette, Debbie and Misty Matrious; Amber Skinaway; very special great nephew, Robert (Bob) Mosay; along with many great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Danbury Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Joseph Matrious, Karl Matrious, Kurt Matrious, Thomas Skinaway, Richard Matrious and Kawliga Tucker.
