In Memory of Stuart Fosmo
Stuart was born on August 3, 1929, in Chicago, IL., to parents, Ollowene (Lewis) and Emil Fosmo. The youngest of four children, Stuart graduated from Webster High School in 1947. On June 29, 1948, Stuart enlisted in the United States Army Air Force. Shortly after, he met Barbara Larrabee and they were married on October 6, 1950. After 4 years of service, Stuart was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. The couple spent 2 years in Minneapolis working for 3M, then moved to Wyoming for 2 years to work in the oil fields. They later returned to the Hertel area where he purchased a tavern from Barb’s dad and for the next 37 years it was operated as Stu’s.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the American Legion and a DNR Fire Warden for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering around in his garage crafting birdhouses, or homemade inventions to help Barb out around the house. He was a handy man who could truly fix anything.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Barb; children, Suzanne (Lee) Helene, Bruce Fosmo and Sheryl (Bill) Schumaker; grandchildren: Becky, Mark, Bruce and Adam; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
