Steven Louis Harrington, 72, of Rice Lake, WI passed on Friday, November 17, 2023 from kidney disease.

He was born February 25, 1951 to Dean and Ione Harrington in Shell Lake Wisconsin.

Steve married Kathryn Schieffer (Milton) on March 23, 1990. He devoted his life to public service by serving the Rice Lake Fire Department from 1977-2008. He was promoted to captain in 1995 until retirement. Elected to Rice Lake City Council from 2008-2012, and was elected mayor of Rice Lake in 2012 and served until 2016. In 2015, Steve and Kathy visited Rice Lake’s sister city Zamberk in the Czech Republic during the 20th anniversary of the partnership between the two cities. Steve was an avid sports and NASCAR fan. He introduced his wife to NASCAR racing.

Steve was preceded in death by parents Dean and Ione Harrington and his three lovable dogs Molly, Maggie and Gus.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn and his five children Jennifer (Willard) Shetler, Scott (Lindsay) Harrington, Tiffeny (Ron) Nelson, Gabriel (Lori) Milton and Matthew Milton.

Steve has 9 grandchildren, Myka, Seth, Dylan, Cole, Oliver, Nola, Jack, Grace and Audrey; 2 great-grandchildren, Bentley and Sawyer. His sister Sue (Doug) Rudesill.

Visitation will be held at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI on Monday, November 27, 2023 from 4-7pm. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral held at Red Cedar Church, Rev. Todd Arneson officiating, with interment in Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 11AM with visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
