In Memory of Steven King


Steven Floyd King, 64 of Cumberland, WI passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, April 19, 2019. Steve will be remembered by many in the community for his ability to make others feel recognized and loved. These are the highlights that Steve would like to be remembered by.

He was a talented basketball player who helped lead the 1971 Cumberland Beavers to the State Championship Tournament, and in 2017 was inducted into the Cumberland Athletic Hall of Fame, one of the greatest honors of his life.

Steve carried on the legacy of his father by owning and operating Camp Brigadoon, which . brought joy and memories to not only the families that camped there year after year, but also to many locals who enjoyed stopping in for ice cream and conversations with Steve.

Steve’s favorite time of the year was heading south to the Florida Keys where he enjoyed the sunshine, fishing on his boat and entertaining those he loved most.

One of his greatest joys was being a husband, father and grandpa to his five beautiful grandchildren who will miss their grandpa Steve.

You could find Steve cruising the back roads in Cumberland in his red Spitfire wearing a bandanna and blasting the Rolling Stones or entertaining friends in the Log House.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy of Cumberland; 4 daughters, Jennifer Prytz (Travis Thorp) of Minneapolis, MN, Jamie (Dan) Hunt of San Diego, CA, Samantha Prytz (Dusty Anderson) of Hammond, WI, Morgan King of San Diego, CA; father, James (Maxine) King of Cumberland, WI; brother, David (Tami) King of Cumberland, WI; 5 grandchildren, Hunter & Cooper Anderson, Jaden & Fiona Hunt, & Rilo Thorp; and Charlie Dog.

Memorial services will be held 6:00 PM Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Das Lach Haus in Cumberland. Friends may call from 3-6 PM Wednesday at the Das Lach Haus.

Steve loved all of you.
