In Memory of Shirley J. Frye
Shirley Jean (Lauterbach) Frye, age 84, of Spooner, WI, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Spooner Health.
Shirley was born September 24, 1938, in Trego, WI, to parents, Guido and Hazel (Anderson) Lauterbach. Shirley graduated from Spooner High School in 1956 and began working for the local newspaper in Indiana. On April 18, 1957, she married Roger Frye Sr., and the couple traveled the world due to Roger’s military career. Shirley got the opportunity to live in Texas, Germany 3 times, California, Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana, and settled back in Wisconsin where they lived in Earl, Trego, and finally in Spooner. After their travels, Shirley worked for a brief period at Montgomery Ward as a clerk and then as the head teller at the Indianhead Credit Union until her retirement in 1999.
Shirley was a sports fan, she was on a bowling league, and she loved cheering on her favorite teams, the Yankees, Cubs, Packers, and especially loved Dale Earnhardt Jr. She was an avid reader and liked to do Sudoku puzzles and play card games with pinochle being her favorite. Most of all Shirley loved her family and her faith in God.
Shirley is survived by her son, Roger Frye Jr.; grandchildren, Roshelle (Phil Trepanier) Frye, and Roger (Michele Nelson) Frye III; sister, Bonnie Pinkerton; sister-in-law Janet Lauterbach; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Ted, Ethel, Ann, Mary, Harry, Jim, Carl, Dick; and Roger Frye Sr.
A funeral gathering will be held Monday, October 24, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00p.m. at the Spooner Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at the Earl Cemetery.
