Sandra "Sandy" Leah Tschida, 80, of Cumberland gained her wings on Friday, February 19, 2021. She passed away at Cumberland Care and Rehab. Sandy was born on December 15, 1940 in Joliet, Illinois to Leo and Lucille (Lynch) Virtel.

Sandy enjoyed cross stitch, watching children, cooking, baking, watching game shows, doing word searches and reading. She collected precious moments and loved Elvis Presley. All who knew her fell in love with her. She married Gene Tschida on October 24th, 1959 and started their family in Lemont, Illinois. In 1995 she and Gene made Cumberland their permanent home where they raised their oldest granddaughter, Tiffany. She enjoyed being able to be a homemaker to love and support her family!

Sandy is survived by her four children: Kathy Odika, Michael (Tammy) Tschida, Colleen (Anthony) Garwood and Thomas (Arlene) Tschida; nine grandchildren: Tiffany (Dave) Eggert, Tyler Tschida, Bryanna Garwood, Jasmine (Scott) Krehbiel, Christopher Tschida, Austin Garwood, Jared Tschida, Jade (Patrick) Kieffer and Luke Garwood; five great grandchildren: Albryannah Benson, Joseph Eggert, Ailah Eggert, Kinslee Tschida and Jesse Eggert, her beloved brothers James (Lea) Virtel of Glendale, MO and Lee (Gloria) Virtel of Lemont, IL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Tschida, parents Leo and Lucille Virtel and grandparents John and Ann Virtel.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 27, 2021 at St. Anthony Church in Cumberland with Father Tom Thompson officiating.  Visitation will be half an hour prior to the service. Her final resting place will be next to her husband in St. Anthony ceremony.

Sandy's family would like to thank the caring staff of Cumberland Care and Rehab for their excellent care and love they gave her. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Croix Hospice in her honor.
