In Memory of Sandra Stimpson

March 19, 1949 - October 5, 2021

Sandra “Sandi” Wolf Stimpson Age 72, of Birchwood, WI, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in Spooner, WI.

She was the second oldest child, born to Stanley and Fern (Finch) Crawford. Most of her life was spent in Wisconsin, a state she loved due to the changing seasons. Sandi was married to Neil Wolf in 1967. Together, they had 2 children, a son and a a daughter. During their marriage, Sandi worked full time at several jobs, from go-go dancer, to bartender, to lunch room assistant at her children’s school. She also found time to take her son to Judo and soccer, and her daughter to Brownies and Girl Sounts. Neil passed away in 1980 and that’s when life got really interesting. Sandi brought her kids camping in Northern WI and NEVER left. She sold her home, packed up her things and moved to Birchwood, WI. She bought a home on Red Cedar Lake and spent her days fishing. After a few years, she wanted a change and moved to a farm! Never having milked cows before, she suddenly became a dairy farmer. From then on she only cooked on a wood cook stove, grew her gardens and canned what she grew! In 1987, she married her longtime partner, Danny Stimpson. He continued to follow all the wacky changes in her life: farming, raising rabbits, selling bait, and finally opening Lil Bit Bait Shop and Campground, which she continued to run until the end. Sandi will be remembered for many things, her huge heart, giving nature, her story telling and her sense of humor. Her flowers always drew attention and she took great pride in all of her property. Her love of animals was well known and has raised everything from pot-belly pigs to donkeys to chickens, and of course her dogs. Mostly, Sandi will be remembered by friends, and her family for her love. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her so much joy. She was a gift to all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Danny of Birchwood; a son, William “Bill” Wolf of Spooner; a daughter, Tara Wolf of Birchwood; granddaughter, Rebecca of Washington, granddaughter, Alaiya of Minnesota, grandson, Mykel of Birchwood, granddaughter, Timber of Birchwood; great grandson, Julian “Buddy”, great granddaughter, Grey “Squish” both of Birchwood; 2 sisters, Debra Hughes of Texas and Cindy Chism of Birchwood; a brother, Lonnie Crawford of Texas; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Fern Crawford; her first husband, Neil; and older brother, Lyle Crawford.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 11AM-1PM at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI.
