In Memory of Sandra H. Atkinson

April 16, 1945 - April 30, 2023

Sandra Helen Atkinson, 78, of Shell Lake died, April 30, 2023 at Care and Rehab-Cumberland.

She was born April 16, 1945 in Spooner, WI to Lyle and Helen (Akey) Thompson.

She was raised in Spooner and met the love of her life, Jimmy Atkinson. They were married in Pine City, MN on June 26, 1962. They lived in Chicago for 6 years before purchasing a farm and moving back to the Dewey Twp. to raise their family.

She worked as a chef at Head Start making delicious home made meals for 33 years. She enjoyed her time with the kids and made many life long friends. Sandra was dedicated to the tender, love, and care of Jimmy, the love of her life, allowing him to stay at home throughout his medical journeys. She cherished every moment that they had together. Their true love could always be seen.

One of her great joys was hunting for and collecting costume jewelry at garage sales; this resulted in an extensive collection. Many hours were spent admiring her many finds.

Sandra truly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; she was the best mother, grandma, and great grandma. Countless wonderful memories were formed in her presence. She made a point to ensure that her home was always a welcoming place to all.

She is survived by her children: Patricia (Noel) Beaufeaux of Elk Mound, Lisa (Dan) Otto of North Branch, MN, Jimmy, Jr. of Stacy, MN and Kristen (Scott) Carls of Shell Lake; grandchildren: Kyle (Bekka) Beaufeaux, Mitchell (April) Beaufeaux, Marjorie (Carl Fisk), Charles Otto, Kimberly (Darren) Sahlstrom, Jannah (Noah) Williams, Brianna Williams, Aaron Carls (Nikki), Cassandra (Caleb) Carls, Elizabeth (Dillan) Carls, Cameron (Mirella) Sampson, and Sydnie Sampson; great grandchildren: Thea, Delilah, Bonnie, and Howell Beaufeaux, Ellyana, Jeremiah, and Micah Sahlstrom, Scarlett Skluzacek, and Liam and Jocelyn Carls; sister, Nancy Atkinson; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy; her parents; brother, Richard; and great granddaughter, Winry.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Noon Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Skinner Funeral Home, Shell Lake. A luncheon will follow the service at the Shell Lake Community Center. Burial will be at the Hertel Lakeview Cemetery following the luncheon. Visitation will be from 11 AM - Noon.
