In Memory of Sammy Bearheart Jr.
Sammy Bearheart, Jr. “Biidwewe” age 76, a resident of Webster passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Sammy was born on April 25, 1947 in Cumberland, Wisconsin to Sam and Rose Bearheart, Sr.
Sammy was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, spearing, trapping, ice fishing and wild rice harvesting. He was very involved on the GLIFWC which is an agency of 11 Ojibwe tribes in WI, MN, and MI that is committed to preservation and enhancement of natural resources. He was a representative on their Voight Inter-Tribal Task Force. In his free time, he enjoyed golf, watching baseball, particularly his favorite team, the Haugen Knights. He also took pride in his sewing and quilting skills.
Sammy was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; son, Duane; grandchildren, Jared Bearheart and Robert Bearheart, Jr., his parents, Sam and Rose; brothers, Bradley and James and sister, Delores Pewaush.
He is survived by his children, Brian Bearheart, Penny Bearheart, Samantha (Larry, Jr.) Larson and Robert Bearheart; his 18 grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; sister, Ellen Butler; along with other relatives and friends.
Friends may call after 4:00 PM on Monday, February 12, 2024 at the Maple Plain Community Center in Cumberland. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Community Center with Francis Songetay and Mike Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at the Gaslyn Cemetery in Rusk Township, Burnett County. Pallbearers will be Thomas Nelson, Brandon Bearheart, Trey Nelson, Michael LaPointe, Larry Larson, Jr., and Joshua Lundequam. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Armstrong, Steven Anderson, Peter Camacho and Joshua Bearheart.
Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
