In Memory of Sally Kabus
Sally Joan Kabus, age 81, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at her residence in Jackson Township near Danbury, WI. She was born March 28, 1938 in Plum City, WI the daughter of Walter and Edith (Ebensberger) Waldvogel. She was united in marriage to John M. Kabus on September 28, 1957 in St. Paul, MN.
Sally was a graduate of Harding High School in St. Paul and had worked for several years as a secretary for Economics Laboratory (now Ecolab). She retired to Spooner in 1987 and moved to their home on Dubois Lake. Sally was very active in the area, tending bar at What the Heck and waitressing at McKenzie Landing. She also helped in the kitchen at The Shop Bar & Grill for Taco Tuesdays. She enjoyed taking part in both bowling and horseshoe leagues. She also loved the great outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. In her later years she enjoyed traveling with her companion, Doug. Sally was an avid reader and spent time painting and doing all kinds of puzzles.
She is survived by her beloved companion, Doug Hanson; her children, Brian Kabus of St. Paul, MN, Valerie Rice (Louis Nickence) of Hayward, WI and Matthew (Tammy) Kabus of Spring Lake Park, MN; her granddaughter, Megan Kabus; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Sally is preceded in death by her husband, John Kabus; her siblings, Gary Waldvogel and Susan Reeves.
