In Memory of Sally Deutsch


October 9, 1933 - September 8, 2019

Sally Marie Deutsch Age 85, of Rice Lake, WI died with her loving husband of 66 years holding her hand on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI.

She was born on October 9, 1933 in Menomonie, WI to Earl and Sarah (Ohnstad) Catura. Sally graduated from the Rice Lake High School in 1951 where she was the Homecoming Queen and the Valedictorian of her class. Sally was married to Cecil Deutsch on October 11, 1952 in Wichita Falls, Texas at the Shephard Air Force and lived in Venezuela from 1964-1968. She owned and operated The Elf Shelf in Brainerd, MN and then when they moved to Rice Lake they owned and operated Deutsch’s Picture Framing. She was a proof reader at the Rice Lake Chronotype and worked the desk at Deutsch’s Gymnastics. Sally was a Cub Scout Leader, and she loved to work on her high school graduation reunions, going on walks, going to TOPS, word search, and putting jigsaw puzzles together, and visited the world with her husband. Sally enjoyed visiting with friends, made friends easily, loved her cats and her family. Her sweet smile and happy heart will be missed by family and friends both.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil Deutsch of Rice Lake; 2 children, Dane (Kathy) Deutsch of Rice Lake and Tammy Deutsch of Rice Lake; 4 grandchildren, Toby Deutsch, Moses Deutsch and Sarah Deutsch and Israel Deutsch; 7 great grandchildren, Eli, Maria, Sophie, Micah, Aydin, Addison and Annika; a nephew, Bill Hrudka. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Sarah Catura; a sister, Mary Lou Hrudka; and a brother, Burnham “Buck” Catura.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Rice Lake, Dr. Roger Schultz and Rev. Susan Oeffler officiating, with interment in the Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake. Visitation will be held from 9-11AM Saturday at the Church.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
