Ruth McConkie, age 86, a current resident of Shell Lake, Wisconsin, died on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Glenview Assisted Living.

Ruth was born on March 8, 1935, in Maple, Wisconsin, to parents Harry and Martha (Antilla) Ketola.

After graduating high school, she was united in marriage to Darwin McConkie on March 9, 1955, in Maple, Wisconsin. After their marriage, the couple lived in Royal Oak, Michigan, where Ruth would work at the Ashley Scott Funeral Home in Hazel Park until her retirement. Darwin and Ruth moved back to Maple and later moved to Glenview Assisted Living in Shell Lake to be nearer their family. Ruth was active in her church, volunteered to help in many of her children’s school activities, and enjoyed walking, watching wildlife, and traveling.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Ruth Anne Dickerson of South Africa and Nancy (Gerald) Graham of Trego, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Lynn Jon (Kirsten) Dickerson of Boston, Massachusetts, Lisa (J.P.) Castel of South Africa, and Gina Graham of Forest Lake, Minnesota, and great-grandchildren; her brother, Bill Ketola of Maumee, Ohio; and her sister, Marie DeBock of Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darwin; daughter, Marty McConkie; and brothers: Fred Ketola, Ted Ketola, Phil Ketola, and Floyd Ketola.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at a later date with interment in Maple, Wisconsin.
