Ruth Elaine Ellingson, also known as "Sweetheart", "Nanie", "Laine", and "Goofy Grandma" age 90, of Cumberland passed with her loved ones at her side on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Care and Rehab-Cumberland.

She was born October 19, 1933 in Grand Forks, ND to Thomas and Clarissa (Braatan) Braaten.

She was married on July 11, 1992 to her loving husband, Loren Ellingson.

Ruth loved to keep busy with her partner, Loren. She accompanied him during his trucking days, traveling to all of the lower 48 states. They also shared a passion for the flower garden, trips to Branson, watching the birds, squirrels and deer at the feeder, car rides to nowhere in particular, and cooking together. Her children recall her spectacular rhubarb desserts, and will continue to share her recipes fondly.

She is survived by husband, Loren Ellingson; children; Linda (John) Bavier, Kathy Eggert, Susan (Ron) Swager, David (Cheryl) Schindler, and Diane Walker; 18 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren; siblings, Beverly Phalen, Harlan Braaten, and Ronald (Patricia) Braaten.

Preceded in death parents, Thomas and Clarissa Braaten; siblings, Janice Walbeck, Thomas Braaten.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11 AM at Augustana Lutheran Church with Shane Anderson officiating. Private family interment to follow at a later date. Pallbearers are Eric, David, Ben, James, Garrett, Kahl, and Mikey.

Visitation will be held at Augustana on Saturday morning from 9 AM - 11 AM.
