In Memory of Russell Hammann


May 19, 1943 - January 8, 2019

Russell L. Hammann, age 75, of Barron, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Mayo Hospital in Barron surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 19, 1943 in Barron to William and Lavina (Korsbon) Hammann.  He was a lifetime resident of Barron County.

Russell married Sharon (Harmon) Hammann on September 1, 1962, and were blessed with three children, Linda, Brenda and Tom.

Russ worked for the Barron County Highway Department for close to 25 years.  He was a lifetime farmer and enjoyed his many years farming with his beloved draft horses (Doc and Prince).  He helped raise turkeys for a short time and his last years was a “shepherd” to his many sheep and lambs.

Russ was an avid Allis Chalmers collector and enjoyed coffee time with his farming friends.  He was a lifetime member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Russ is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters, Linda (Fred) Riebe of Barron, and Brenda (Bruce) Johnson of Star Prairie; 7 grandchildren, Jason (Amber) Riebe, and Derek (Tracy) Riebe of Barron; Jordan Riebe of Hillsdale; and Brent (Cassie) Johnson, Brittany (Corey) Brennan of Deer Park, Brooke (Rod) Wenzel of Paraguay, SA, and Brandi of Amery; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill  Hammann of Cameron; sister, Bev (Gary) Borgen of Dallas; sister-in-law, Mary Hammann of Barron; brother-in-law, Bruce (Connie) Harmon of Ridgeland; sister-in-law, Dianne (Steve) Toews of Barron; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Russ was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tom; brother, Bradley; sister-in-law, Sherry Hammann and other family members. 

Funeral services for Russell Hammann will be Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Barron with Pastor Michael Nielsen officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, January 11, 2019 from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron and also, one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday morning.  Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.
