In Memory of Ruby Erickson
November 19, 1923 - October 12, 2018
Ruby Sylvina Erickson, 94, of Spooner passed away peacefuly on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Maple Ridge Care Center in Spooner with her loving children by her side. She was born November 19, 1923 in Town of Roosevelt to Adolph and Emma (Swenson) Lauritsen and attended Roosevelt School. She was married in Pine City, MN on July 21, 1941 to Carl Erickson, and they farmed and raised there family in Timberland. In later years, she worked seasonally at Seneca Foods in Cumberland. Ruby was a lifelong baptized and confirmed member of Timberland Ringebu Lutheran Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, loved crocheting large and small doilies which she gave as gifts and was a prolific cook, baker and made excellent dill pickles. Christmastime was very special as Ruby made many crafts for everyone in the family.
She is survived by daughters: Donna (Roger) Lawrence and Carla (the late Charles) Donatell, both of Spooner, Verdell (Larry) Schwab of Shell Lake and favorite son, Leland (Nancy) Erickson of Spooner; 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandson; her sister, Lenore Swan of Shell Lake; many, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Carl Erickson; 6 sisters: Edna, Agnes, Judy, Darlene, Delores and Lilly; 2 brothers: Lester and Ernie Lauritsen; 1 great great grandson, Maddox Krizan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 19, 2018 at Salem Lutheran Church - Shell Lake with Pastor Sue Odegard officiating and burial to follow at Shell Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers are Tony Donatell, Jeff Erickson, Scott Erickson, Kyle Linton, Kenny Krizan and Doug Grenier. Visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to the service.
