In Memory of Rose Devine

February 15, 1954 - April 1, 2021

Rose M. Devine, age 67, a resident of Grantsburg passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home of natural causes on April 1, 2021.

Rose was born on February 15, 1954 to Arnold and Bertha Tyler in River Falls, WI. She grew up on a farm in a rural area, attended elementary school in a one room schoolhouse, and graduated from high school in River Falls. She entered the workforce and began as an assembly operator at HD Hudson Mfg. in Hastings, MN. While working there, she met Richard Devine.

She and Richard were united in marriage on October 18, 1980 at the Big River Parish Catholic Church. In 1983 their son Brian was born, and shortly afterward the family moved to rural Grantsburg. Rose decided to return to work and joined the staff at the Burnett Medical Center. She started in housekeeping and eventually worked her way up to CSR Technician. She spent over 30 years there and Rose knew everybody, and everybody knew Rose. She loved working there but was eyeing retirement, and began training her replacement. Rose wouldn’t retire until she was sure everything was being done “just right” and was reluctant to leave her many friends.

Rose enjoyed reading, puzzles, and making gifts for friends and co-workers from the crafting she did. She always had some sort of project in process and was constantly looking for new opportunities. Rose was a loving and caring person, and always wanted to share with her many friends. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Grantsburg and was strong in her faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother Robert, and sister, Pat.

She will be sadly missed by her husband of over 40 years, Richard; son, Brian (Shari) Devine and grand-doggies Trapper and Indy; stepdaughter, Shannon Devine; step grandchildren, Robert Pederson and Ria Devine; her sisters, Barb (Virgil) Thompson, Judy (Bill) Baker, Susan Tyler; brother, John (Laurie) Tyler; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Grantsburg with Father Jerry Hackenmueller as Celebrant. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home
