In Memory of Ronald W. Jeschke
Ronald William Jeschke, 79, of Cumberland passed peacefully with family surrounding him on October 1, 2024, at his home. He was born August 13, 1945, in Cumberland, WI to Herbert Louis and Luella Dorothea (Cordes) Jeschke.
Upon graduation from Cumberland High School in 1963, Ron enlisted in the US Navy, serving 4 years working in communication’s intelligence. Here he took pride in his role as a naval cryptologist, intercepting and deciphering radio transmissions. This service time took him to Norfolk, Virginia and Sidi Yahia, Morocco. After his naval service, Ron returned home to Cumberland. He attended UW-Oshkosh, taking agriculture and conservation classes, which he put to use upon buying a farm in Almena. He was married on September 28, 1974, to Cynthia Kahl. Here Ron and Cindy raised 3 children and farmed together for 23 years. Ron also began delivering mail during this time, working for over 20 years for the US Postal Service. He enjoyed his role delivering mail and prided himself on taking good care of his patrons on the route. After selling the farm, Ron and Cindy moved to Cumberland, where they created their own little paradise, gardening, planting and tending a beautiful orchard, and feeding half the birds in Barron county.
Ron is survived by his wife, Cindy of Cumberland; daughters: Lisa (Mark) Gryskiewicz of Medina, OH, and Sarah (Ernie) Acosta of Almena; grandchildren: Jeannie Acosta of Rice Lake and Chris Acosta of Almena, Allison, Braden, and Jordan Gryskiewicz of Medina, OH; and many other family and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his son, Mark Jeschke; and brother, Kenneth Jeschke.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Lakeside Cemetery with Pastor Ken Mandley officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
