January 15, 1934  -  April 30, 2018

Ronald Joseph Wentzel, 84, of Minong, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Maple Ridge Care Center, in Spooner, WI. 

Ronald Joseph Wentzel was born on January 15, 1934 to Royal and Jenny (Zackowiecki) Wentzel in Edgar, Wisconsin.  He married Hannelore “Hon” Spiegel, who passed away in 2011.  They lived in Minong for the past 41 years, and Ron continued to reside there, after her passing.  He was a Vietnam and Korean War Veteran.  Ron served in The Specialty Forces on the border of Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1970, and given one year to live at the time.  He fooled everyone and led a fulfilled, adventurous life.

Ron is survived by: his children; Ben Wentzel, Henry Wentzel, Marion Bubb, and Roy Wentzel, six grandchildren; Amanda, Jason, Terry Jr., Timothy, Kanssa, and Michael, four great-grandchildren; Cassy, Elizabeth, Abby, and Josh, one sister, Leona, and one brother, Richie.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Hannelore. 

A funeral service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held at The Spooner Funeral Home in Spooner, WI on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 1:00 PM.  A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial with full military honors will follow at The Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.  Arrangements were entrusted to The Spooner Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be left for Ron’s family at www.bratley-nelsonchapels.com.
