In Memory of Ronald D. Sundt
Ronald Duane Sundt, age 87, of Dresser, WI, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
Ronald was born on October 26, 1937, in Baldwin, WI, to Ingebrit (Norway) and Alvera Sundt of Baldwin, WI. He grew up in a loving home and carried his family’s values of kindness, dedication, and service throughout his life.
Ron was well known for his strong work ethic and warm demeanor during his years working for the City of Hudson in the Public Works Division, retiring in 1998. Prior to his career in public works, Ron served in the Army National Guard and worked as a Deputy Sheriff in St. Croix County, reflecting his deep sense of duty and commitment to his community and country. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Post 50, demonstrating his continued respect for his fellow service members. While raising his family in Hudson, he participated in the Booster Club and loved watching and coaching his boys in multiple sports.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 58 years, Bonnie Sundt, and a dedicated father to his three sons: Bill (Karla) Sundt of Farmington, MN, Dan (Melony) Sundt of Osceola, WI, and Joel Sundt of Hudson, WI. Ron was a proud grandpa to his cherished grandchildren, Hanna, Tanner, Josi, and Devon Sundt, and he loved watching them participate in their sports and activities.
Ron had a deep love for his Wisconsin teams—the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers held a special place in his heart, as did any team representing his home state. Over the years, he also had many beloved dog companions, and he cared for each of them with extraordinary kindness and devotion.
After retiring, Ron and Bonnie enjoyed traveling together, even settling in Arizona for 16 years before returning to their Wisconsin roots. Ron also had a passion for visiting flea markets and garage sales. It wasn’t just about finding good deals; he cherished meeting new people and hearing their stories along the way. His knack for bargaining and his friendly, outgoing nature made him a beloved figure wherever he went.
In addition to his immediate family, Ron loved his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews, who were an important part of his life. His affection and connection with his extended family will be remembered fondly.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carol (Donald) Belisle of Hudson, WI; and his brother, Dennis Sundt of Arizona. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Pat Sundt of Arizona.
A private memorial and burial with immediate family will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Farmington, WI, at a later time.
Ronald will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his gentle spirit, and his compassion for others. He touched many lives through his kindness, dedication, and involvement with family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
