In Memory of Rolland Scheurer


April 12, 1950 - May 17, 2019

Rolland “Butch” Michael Scheurer Age 69, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home.

Butch was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Rice Lake on April 12, 1950 to Rolland and Delores (Wilson) Scheurer. Butch graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1968, and did two tours in Vietnam from 1968-1971. He was married to Dorothy Wille on June 23, 1973 in Rice Lake. Last year they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Most people knew Butch from his time at the Post Office, where he worked for 32 years from 1972 thru 2004 and for the Barron County Sheriff’s Department from 1984-2002. Butch’s greatest past time was watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He could often be found at the Rice Lake Sports Center watching hockey, football, basketball, softball, & volleyball. He also enjoyed his time at the cabin on the Minong Flowage and loved going for rides with Dorothy and traveling. Butch played slow pitch softball for PeeWees V&M bar for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and his daily morning game of Yahtzee with Dorothy.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his son Steven (Nellie) Scheurer; his daughters, Tammi (Randy) Mancl and Kari (Zach) Storberg; 12 grandchildren Tanner and Max Schwanke, Kenzie, Kallie, & Kole Mancl; Katelind, Steven, Brooklyn, Tristan, & Teagan Scheurer; Austin & Owen Storberg; a great granddaughter Kylie Schwanke; his sisters Margaret Marsh, Kathy (Dave) Saffert, Patty (Randy) Hanson, Mary (Jim) Pacyga, and his brother John (Norma) Scheurer. He was preceded in death by his parents Rolland and Delores Scheurer and in-laws Ray and Irene Wille.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rice Lake, WI with interment at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI where there he will be accorded full Military Rites by the Rice Lake Veteran Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Tuesday at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the Funeral Service at the Church on Wednesday.
