In Memory of Roland J. Glessing


February 28, 1942 - October 29, 2022

Roland “Ron” Julien Glessing Age 80, of Rice Lake, WI, died Saturday, October 29, 2022 in Rice Lake.

He was born on February 28, 1942 to Albert and Elnora (Prock) Glessing at their farm north of Dobie, WI.

He attended Dobie Catholic School, then graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1961. He served in the United States Army from 1961-1963. After his service he worked and lived in Southern Wisconsin. He started working for USG (United States Gypsum) Interiors in 1967 and worked for more than 36 years and came back to “God’s Country” in 2003. During this time he had two sons, Roland and Jaysyn. He married his soulmate Naomi Norton on April 9, 1983. They lived in Delavan, WI until retirement and they made their home in Cameron. He enjoyed many things, family most of all. He was a card player, woodworker, crafter, 4 wheeling, deer hunting and fishing. He loved spending time at the family cabin in Gordon, WI. He was also an avid garage saler in his retirement.

He is survived by his 2 sons, Jaysyn Glessing of Burlington, WI and Roland “Ken” (Valerie) Duncan; 3 stepchildren, Michael (Sandy) Van Dan, Vicky (Dan) Pletsch and Beverly (Mark) Hupé; 5 grandsons; 3 granddaughters; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Helene Morgan of Rice Lake; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Glessing in 2021; his parents; a brother, Norbert Glessing; and a sister, Elaine Berg.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Monday, November 7, 2022 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI where Military Rites will be accorded him by the Rice Lake Veteran Honor Guard. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Funeral Service.
