In Memory of Roland Bowen


August 1, 1948 - December 14, 2019

Roland "Rollie" Bowen, 71, of Cumberland, died Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Pioneer Nursing Home in Prairie Farm. He was born August 1, 1948, in Cumberland, WI to Marion and Velma (Read) Bowen, was raised in Cumberland and graduated from Cumberland High School in 1966. Rollie enlisted in the US Navy and served 2 years during the Vietnam War on the U.S.S. Middlesex County. He married Joan Berg on July 14, 1979, in Cumberland. Rollie worked for over 20 years at 3M Company in Cumberland, retiring around 1995. He later worked for Handi-Lift for nearly 15 years. Rollie enjoyed hunting (especially with a muzzleloader), camping, fishing, and any activities with his kids and grandkids and was known for working double shifts so he could spend quality time with family. Rollie also enjoyed his time people-watching in the food court while Joan practiced her retail therapy. He loved his Green Bay Packer football team and road trips with Joan.

He is survived by children: Darla (Mark) Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD, Brian (Tiina) Bowen of Espoo, Finland and Sarah (Steve) Wohlk of Cumberland; grandchildren, Taneil, Shae, Carlee, Taylor, Carter, Cameron, Treven, Lance; brother, Chuck (Pat) Bowen of Neenah; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rollie was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, and brothers: Arthur and Bob.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 18, 2020, at First United Methodist Church in Cumberland with Rev. Mike Brubaker officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Military honors were accorded by Anderson-Thomson Post #98 American Legion, Cumberland. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 Friday, January 17, 2020, at the Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
