Roger P. Chudy, age 82, of Hayward, WI passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Marshfield Medical Center.

Roger was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 1, 1941.

In 1947, Roger’s family moved to Hayward, Wisconsin where the family had purchased land on Hobbs (Hub) Lake eight miles south of Hayward. Roger attended the one-room Boylan School through the sixth grade and finished his elementary education at Hayward Grade School. In 1959, Roger graduated from Hayward High School. Roger enrolled at Saint Louis University (Parks College) and graduated in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering.

Roger did his military service with the U.S. Army and was assigned to a scientific and engineering unit at the Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey. After Military service, Roger worked for the Cessna Aircraft Co. as a design engineer and the Beech Aircraft Co. as mechanical systems test engineer. Roger finished his aviation career working for the Federal Aviation Administration as a Certification Engineer and served at locations in Fort Worth Texas, Denver, Colorado, and Kansas City, MO.

Upon retiring Roger moved to the cabin of his youth by Hub Lake and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially liked to hunt upland game birds such as pheasants with his English Setter named “Trouble”.

Roger is survived by his brother James and Sister In-Law Marilla Ann of Hayward, sister Mary Ann Firehammer and Nieces Jill (Bruce) Kaufmann and Amy (Mike) Throndsen of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023, St. Joseph’s Church in Hayward, WI. A time for gathering with family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Roger loved aviation and was an accomplished pilot and was rated as a commercial pilot with an instrument rating and flew many types of aircraft. He had over 4,000 hours of flight time.

Roger is survived by his brother James and Sister In-Law Marilla Ann of Hayward, sister Mary Ann Firehammer and Nieces Jill (Bruce) Kaufmann and Amy (Mike) Throndsen of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
