In Memory of Roger Lawrence


January 20, 1941 - March 14, 2019

Roger L. Lawrence (78) passed away on March 14, 2019, in Portage, WI. He gave his heart to Jesus Christ in April of 2003 and is now resting peacefully in the arms of his Savior.  He was a member of Shell Lake Northwoods Baptist Church. Roger was born to Edgar and Idella Lawrence on January 20, 1941. He married Donna (Erickson) in 1958.  Roger spent most of his working years in Madison, Wisconsin, where he and Donna owned and operated D & R Const Co. He retired at the age of 60 to their lake property in Sarona, WI.

He lived his life to the fullest until Parkinson’s with LBD robbed him in his final years. Roger was the hardest working man you would ever meet. He was a business owner, snowmobile racer, barefoot water skier and an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and going out west, fishing locally and on Lake Michigan, gardening, cutting firewood, doing puzzles, whittling, carving, watching tv westerns and listening to old country music. He always had pets to care for. He adored his kitties, Bootsie and Pumpkin but most of all, his family, that he was so very proud of.

Missing him is his wife Donna of Spooner, daughters Terri (Kenny) Krizan Portage, Shery (Greg) Smith Stoughton, Tammy (Chris) Klohn White Bear Mn. Shannon (Doug) Grenier Sun Prairie; 14 grandchildren: Michelle Christensen, Isaiah (Krissi) Krizan, Tasha (Jon) Crawford, Rick (Rachel) Krizan, Shawna Parker (Chad) Nathan (Stephanie) Smith, Matt (Rose) Smith, Joe Smith, Carson (Josie) Klohn, Hannah and Garrett Klohn, Corbin Grenier (Karli) Gavin and Jayden Grenier; 10 great-grandchildren; His brothers: Bob (Marie) , Allan (Beth); many nieces nephews & cousins. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Dewayne and Richard; sister-in-law, Pauline Lawrence; father & mother-in-law, Carl, and Ruby Erickson; brother-in-law, Charles Donatell and great-grandson Maddox Krizan.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Shell Lake Full Gospel Church with Pastor Martin Coon officiating. Burial will be in Shell Lake Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice along with our family and special friends that helped, loved and prayed us through this very sad journey. You can let go now Daddy, your chains are gone you’ve been set free. We'll love you forever.
