In Memory of Robin M. Johnson
Robin M Johnson, 69 of Luck Township, Wisconsin passed away on Sunday, July 07, 2024 embraced in the love of family. She fought long and fiercely for her life. When her time came, she died as she was determined to- at home near the heart of her life with husband Dennis (d. May 07th 2016).
With two birds in her maiden name (Robin Martin) it is perhaps fitting that she spent the last afternoon of her life as she had on many days; visiting on the porch with those she held dear, soaking up the warm Wisconsin sunshine, watching the critters and the birds she so loved to feed.
Robin was born to Chuck and Dolly (Bulman) Martin on July 17th, 1954. She was the 5th of 6 children and grew up in Reeve Wisconsin in a two-room house/blacksmith shop in Reeve itself. When she was twelve, the family moved into the old Reeve schoolhouse on the top of the hill where she and her siblings had once attended. Her nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and many others could fill books with memories of the Martins and their ‘Reeve Years’.
Robin graduated from Clear Lake High School. She held many jobs over her lifetime. She worked in a plastics factory and at Turtle Lake Casino; did Carpentry work in California for a time and, for a long time worked at Polaris. When recently asked about her favorite job she said, ‘being a nanny to my nieces and nephews.’
Robin had intelligent hands. She was equally skilled with a chain saw as a sewing machine. She loved woodworking, crafting, quilting and painting. Many people cherished the gifts from her tool shed, crafting table and sewing machine.
Robin and Dennis Married in a country western themed wedding at their own home in Luck Township on June 29th, 1996. It was a fun and joyous day filled with family, friends, cowboy hats, haybale pews, country music and solemn vows that would see them love, honor and cherish; forged in sickness and in health. They loved to be together no matter what they were doing. They enjoyed time with son Ryan and loved their grandchildren Matthew and Morgan. They sang karaoke, went to auctions and garage sales, loved camping, cookouts, fishing and hunting. It is of great comfort to those who remain to think of them now together again.
Robin was a committed Rowdy Red Hat Mama. Dennis became so involved in supporting her that he pulled their float in parades and became known as the ‘Float Guy.’ She loved the fun, the sisterhood and the contributions that they made to their community. She also loved dressing up- something she retained from childhood Halloweens.
Robin and Dennis became members of St. Peters Lutheran Church in rural Luck. She spoke often and fondly of her church family and the many ways she served and was served by the church. She loved being one of the ‘three amigos’ who made quilts for graduating seniors among others. Her faith was simple and strong, unwavering and sustaining. She knew what it was to be accepted and loved- to belong.
