In Memory of Robert T. Lancaster

December 4, 1956 - June 16, 2023

Robert Terrence Lancaster, known to friends and family as Terry (1956-2023), passed through the heavenly gates on June 16, 2023 following a brief hospitalization while visiting family in Fairbanks, AK.

Born in Bemidji, MN, on December 4, 1956, Terry was the third of six children of Pastor Robert and Lorraine Lancaster. He graduated high school in Cottonwood, MN before serving in the USAF in Finland, MN from 1975-1979. He married Barbara Borstad on May 9, 1981, the third Lancaster-Borstad union in his family. After a summer spent attempting to backpack the circumference of Minnesota and a few years residence in Moorhead, MN, Terry and Barb moved to Wisconsin where Terry worked 35 years at Rice Lake Weighing Systems, residing first in Rice Lake then a hobby farm near Sand Creek, WI. He was active in service at Providence Reformed Baptist Church in Rice Lake as a deacon, assisting with construction projects and leading many youth group events. Terry’s spirit found joy in wilderness adventures, sleeping under the stars, camping in the north woods, sailing the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior, canoeing the BWCA (and other bodies of water too numerous to name), cross-country skiing 12 Birkies (and many other races), and simply stomping through the woods.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brother David. He is survived by wife Barbara, siblings Steven, Sheryl (Borstad), Rebecca (Borstad), Daniel, children Christopher, Alexander, Emmanuel, and Erin, two daughters-in-law, and eight grandchildren—the delight of his heart.

Funeral Services will be held at 9:30AM Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Providence Church in Rice Lake, Pastor Steve Lancaster officiating, with interment in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting the family with the arrangements.
