In Memory of Robert “Rob” E. Davis

September 2, 1948 - March 17, 2025

Robert “Rob” E. Davis, age 76, of Cameron, WI passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, March 17, 2025 at his home with his wife, son Tony and fur buddy Otis by his side. He fought a courageous but brutal battle with bone cancer for 6 months.

He was born September 2, 1948 to Evan “Bud” and Lorraine (Zemke) Davis. In April of 1971 he married Charlotte Hover (Tubbs). They later divorced, but during their union they had two children, Anthony Davis & Janelle Wait. On June 27, 1992 he married Beverly (Erickson). During their marriage they loved and shared 6 children; Valerie Fagerlin, Julie McKenzie, Michelle Benoy & Brent Sellent, along with Tony & Janelle. Rob graduated Barron High School in 1966. He attended WITC in Oshkosh from 1968-1970. He was then drafted into the Army and served for 2 years. He took basic training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky for 8 weeks and then went to Fort Wachuka, Arizona for AIT training for an additional 8 weeks. After a 2 day leave he went to Frankfurt, Germany to the 503rd Supply and Transportation Company for 19 months. There he earned Buck Sgt Stripes and was in charge of 16 men and 16 trucks & trailers. He was discharged from the service and came home. Two days after arriving home he started working for his parents hauling Miller Beer for 19 years at Barron Distributing. When GB Sales bought his parents company, he stayed on and worked the next 25 years and 8 months for them, retiring in 2014.

He so loved fishing, trapping (while sharing his knowledge & teaching others) and hunting. Camping at Northwood Shores in Haugen, WI for many years was his dream come true, being able to fish and being around all of his camping friends. He so loved and adored all the time with his children and grandchildren also. As you all know, Rob was well known for telling his lengthy stories, so please know he wrote 90 percent of his own obituary. He ended it by writing “Love my wife whom I married in June 1992.”  I, (Beverly) could not count how many times in a day that he told me how much he loved me and I never got tired of hearing it. Oh, how I wish I could hear it one more time again.

Rob was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws: Alfred & Leona Erickson, his grandparents, nephew: CJ Ofelt, nieces: Brianna Ofelt and Whitney Davis, brothers-in-law: Richard Sebens, Ron Pearson & Wayne Erickson & sister-in-law: Joyce Erickson.  He is survived by his wife of almost 33 years: Beverly, son: Anthony (Tanya) Davis of Rice Lake, daughter: Janelle (Jeff) Wait of Menomonie, step children: Val Fagerlin (Scott Peltier) of Dallas, Julie (Chris) McKenzie of Osceola, Michelle (Duane) Benoy of Cameron & Brent (Krissy) Sellent of Almena, many grandchildren & great grandchildren, brothers: Scott (Kate) Davis of Barron & Brad Davis of Minong, sisters: Laurie (Ted) Matthys of Sand Creek & Wendy Davis (Jon Paulzine) of Barron, sisters-in-law: Darlene Sebens & Sharon Pearson of Cumberland, sister & brother-in- law: Brenda and Chuck Ofelt of Turtle Lake & his loyal & precious fur buddy: Otis, that is already so lost without him.

A Celebration of Life for Rob will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 30th, at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Cameron. Interment will take place on June 27th at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
