In Memory of Robert Nelson


July 31, 1943 - September 1, 2021

Robert Leon Nelson, age 78, a resident of Shell Lake passed away on September 1, 2021 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Robert was born on July 31, 1943 in Webster, Wisconsin to parents Leonard and Myrtle (Taylor) Nelson.

Robert married his fist wife Carol Fields on July 3, 1965 they later divorced. On June 15, 1996 Robert married his second wife Sharon Dehmolw in Siren, Wisconsin.

Robert graduated from Siren High School in 1962 and then enlisted into the Military. After being discharged from the Military Robert worked as a Tribal Maintenance Supervisor for over 30 years. For over 20 years he also worked as a fireman for the Hertel Fire Department.

Robert’s hobbies were fishing, hunting, and playing cards. Robert was a huge Packers and Brewers fan. He loved to go to Leisure Lake in Washburn County during Labor Day weekend for their annual family camping trips.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Myrtle; wife, Sharon Nelson; brothers, Ron, Ted, Ken; and sister, Nancy.

He is survived by his children, Brenda (Bill) Landwehr, Barb (Jon) Kerr, Bruce (Michelle Schneider) Nelson; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, LeRoy (Janet) Nelson; stepchildren, Shelly (Kevin) Chudzik, Wendy Krause, Sheila Labo, Tracie Masuca and Slade Bodzislaw; sister-in-law, Sharon Nelson; brother-in-law, Ray Smith; many nieces and nephews; and his favorite companion “Tank”.

A funeral service took place on September 4, 2021 (visitation September 3, 2021 at 4:00 PM) at the St. Croix Tribal Center in Hertel, Wisconsin with Francis Songetay officiating. Interment will take place on September 7, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, Wisconsin.
