In Memory of Robert M. Haider
Robert M. (Bob) Haider, 77, of Hayward, Wisconsin and formerly of Saint Paul, Minnesota died August 10, 2022 at home on Smith Lake surrounded by loving family.
Bob was born in Saint Paul on March 22, 1945, the son of Robert and Ardene Haider.
Bob graduated from Washington High School in 1963 and subsequently served in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Thailand. He spent his career as an accomplished electrician, was a proud member of IBEW 110, and retired from University of Saint Thomas in 2007. In 2004, Bob married Diana M. Smith, also of Saint Paul, and in 2007 the two moved permanently to Hayward where they spent happy retirement years at the home on Smith Lake that they built together. Bob enjoyed many years of retirement as a volunteer at the Hayward Community Food Shelf.
Bob is survived by his wife Diana, his daughter Robin Kazek (Nathan), siblings Cheryl Olson (Donald) and John Haider (Patty), grandchildren Sophia and Isabel as well as a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Diana’s children Tony Grundhauser (Cathy), Tim Grundhauser (Annemarie Furlong), and grandchildren Emma, Lucy and Delaney. He will be sorely missed by his family and beloved dog Max.
Bob was preceded in death by both his parents and his brother David.
A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Thursday August 18, 2022 at Saint John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church in White Bear, Minnesota.
He will be interred at Fort Snelling at a later date.
