In Memory of Robert H. Siegert
Robert Henry (Bob) Siegert died Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, MN surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on January 25, 1936, to Emil and Anna (Krumheuer) Siegert in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. When Bob was young, the Siegerts moved to Amery. Although the family left and lived short stints in Arizona and Missouri, they eventually moved back to Amery where Bob lived his entire life.
He did leave Amery for a bit when he joined the United States Air Force. Being stationed in Great Britain would change his life when he met a fiery Irish woman at the Alpine Pub in Bicester England in 1957 who stole his heart. He convinced Patricia Walsh to marry him, and they were united on August 23, 1958 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Gravesend, Kent England. After a brief stay overseas with his new bride, Bob had to return to the states and soon after Pat made the move to Amery with their infant daughter Lorraine in October 1959. Bob and Pat were blessed with three more children to follow; Sharon, Kevin and Colleen.
Bob loved life with Pat and their children. He adored the grandchildren and once said he didn’t think it could get better, but it did when the great grandchildren came along. Bob and Pat were their happiest when they were attending school and extra-curricular events for kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Joy was also found traveling, especially visiting Pat’s family overseas. He enjoyed spending time with friends camping, visiting historical places around the U.S. and playing cards. He had fun going to casinos, watching game shows and sharing stories of his younger years, military years, his days of working at Hansen’s Grocery, owning his milk route and his proud decades as an employee of Land O’ Lakes.
Between 2018 and 2019, Bob lost his son Kevin, his wife Pat and daughter Sharon all within a year. He missed his loved ones deeply and settled into a quiet life at Evergreen Village where he made new friendships and especially enjoyed time in the puzzle room. He looked forward to his coffee clutch time every morning at Amery Family Restaurant. His family is at peace knowing Bob has been reunited with those he missed so greatly.
Preceding Bob in death were his Wife, Pat; Daughter, Sharon Block; Son, Kevin; parents Emil and Anna Siegert; Father and Mother In-Law, Edward and Bridget Walsh; Infant Brother, Arnold; Brother and Sister-In-Law, Richard and Grace Siegert; Sister-In-law May Wright, Brother In-law Ron Whibley and Sister In-law Philomena Bush.
